Headteacher's Statement
At Ashwater School we strive to create a happy, supportive and caring atmosphere.
We attempt to do this by encouraging children to develop their individual strengths and helping them to overcome any personal weaknesses.
By being aware of these strengths and weaknesses we seek to enable children to thrive, giving them more confidence to tackle difficult, different or unusual tasks
We want our children to be equipped with the skills, knowledge and understanding to cope with life not only in our school but in their future schools.
We are about nurturing enquiring, confident, sympathetic and self-disciplined minds that will be able to empathise with one another's problems and support each other in all areas of life.
We want our school to be a safe place where the various members can trust each other to behave in a reasonable, tolerant and co-operative manner.

Premises
Ashwater Primary School was built in 1900 of local stone. There are two main classrooms, conservatory, hall, new library and ICT area. The grounds consist of a playground, orchard, football field, and environmental centre, with a study pond and garden plots. The school has its own kitchen. The school house is used for an additional teaching area, administration office, Playgroup and resources store.
School Organisation
The school caters for children from rising fives to eleven years of age. Classes are organised according to age at present — one class for Foundation/KS1 and one class for KS2. Each class therefore contains a cross-section of abilities, aptitudes and ages.
