Aims & Objectives
To promote and encourage horticultural activity within the Parish.
Rules
The Society will be known as the Ashwater Horticultural Society.
Membership is open to anyone within the Parish of Ashwater and surrounding villages.
A committee of three elected members Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer will administer the Society.
The Committee will have the power to co-opt members to serve on the Committee as required.
The Signatories on the Society’s cheques/withdrawal forms will be the Treasurer plus one of the other elected Officers.
All members over the age of 18 will pay an annual subscription of £5 per individual or £8 per household to be paid within 30 days of joining or 30 days of the AGM. Membership will lapse where no subscription has been paid
In the event of the Society being wound up, any funds remaining will be donated to a village project or local registered charity.The Committee will serve for 12 months whereupon an annual general meeting will be held to elect a new committee. 21 days notice of an AGM must be given and a quorum of at least 5 members must be present. A request for an extraordinary general meeting must be supported by signatures of at least 40 per cent of members. Any motion requiring a vote must be given to the secretary in writing at least 14 days before the meeting.
This Constitution can only be changed by an extraordinary general meeting or an annual general meeting.
