Ashwater Horticultural Society Minutes

The meeting was held in the Village Hall. Present were

Chairman	Bob Edwards
Secretary	Peter Capron
Treasurer	Jackie Whiteley

Plus 18 other members.

The major part of the meeting was taken up by a discussing what the Society had achieved since it was reformed in Sept 2002. It was agreed that the meetings/presentations and visits were in line with what the members wanted.

Suggestions for future meetings were: -

Keeping shrubs in order,
Flower arranging,
Soft fruit in general, pruning etc,
Gardens suitable for our soil
Water gardens,
Visits to Rosemore, Illand Garden Centre and the walled garden at Halwill.

The Annual Show was discussed and a sub-committee was set up to finalise the schedule and make the necessary arrangements. M Still, A Shardick, E Gliddon plus the officers would form the committee.

The secretary reported that he had arranged a visit to Trebah gardens on the 6th June 2003 and needed members and friends to confirm that they wished to attend by the next meeting. The cost would be £10.00 with the coach leaving at 09.30 and returning at about 17.30

Following that the secretary announced that the next meeting would be held on 16 May when Mrs. Shirley Bennett will give a talk on Cottage Gardens.

A Bring and Buy sale followed tea, which raised funds for the society
